The City of Bozeman has started work with Knife River and Morrison Maierle to construct the segment of North 27th Avenue from Baxter Lane to Cattail Street. This project will help improve north/south traffic flow in west Bozeman, offering better connections to businesses and homes. Once complete, the road will have one northbound lane and one southbound lane, left turn lanes, shared use paths in each direction, landscaped medians and boulevards, and installation of water, sewer, stormwater, and street lighting. Baxter Lane will also receive a new signalized intersection, and the Cattail intersection will become a single-lane roundabout.
Drivers can expect Thomas Drive to be closed to all but local traffic for the majority of the construction period, with detours in place for those residents who live on the street. Minor work is being completed south of Baxter Lane, and during some of that construction, a detour will be in place to route traffic away from North 27th Avenue. No closures of Baxter Lane are expected, but some work will require temporary traffic control and flaggers at this location.
The intersection of North 27th Avenue and Cattail Street is scheduled to be closed for a two-month period between early June and early August to allow for the construction of the roundabout. Traffic will be detoured to other streets in the area for the duration of this closure.
