Learn more about the everyday lives of Bozeman law enforcement officers! Our Citizens Police Academy is free and open to community members ages 18+. We host two eight-week sessions per year in the spring and fall.

The academy includes detailed information on a variety of topics. It covers divisions and departments like patrol and detectives and includes information on groups like the Missouri River Drug Task Force and the Special Response team. It teaches citizens about crime scene investigations and forensic techniques, as well as weapons like Tasers. The class also includes an optional ride-along with our patrol officers. 

The BPD team provides class instruction, demos, and hands-on activities. This is an active class, so you'll be on your feet learning about everything from traffic stops to CSI investigations.

Citizens Police Academy fosters better communication between Bozeman citizens and BPD. We teach about our department and criminal justice system, and citizens learn more about the services the BPD offers to our community.
