Citizens Fire Academy | City Of Bozeman

Welcome to our annual Citizens Fire Academy! Our firefighters teach this six-week course about the Bozeman Fire Department. Students will learn more about the department, meet our team, wear gear, and pull hose. The class is free and open to community members aged 18+.

Specialized firefighters will lead each class. Students will learn about:

Citizens Fire Academy fosters better communication between Bozeman citizens and Bozeman Fire. We teach about our department and what we do, and citizens connect with our firefighters, medics, and other staff members.

Class Date/Times:

Our next Citizens Fire Academy will run from September 2 to October 7. Classes will take place on Wednesday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. at Fire Station 1 (300 East Oak Street). Dispatch and Hazmat classes will take place offsite.

Fire Prevention

In this class, you'll meet our Inspection Team and learn more about what they look for and why. You'll also learn about pre-planning for safety and our public education work. Finally, you'll learn how to protect your home and family in emergencies.

Wildfire

In this section of the class, you'll explore our wildfire truck and equipment. Students will also meet our wildfire expert to learn what tools are needed, how weather affects fire, and how to minimize fire risk.
