New Affordable Housing Ordinance
The Affordable Housing Ordinance (AHO) aims to create more housing options across the spectrum of need, more innovative and diverse development projects, dynamic and resilient neighborhoods, and to improve land use and public infrastructure efficiency.
Community Housing
Community Housing is defined as: Homes that those who live and/or work in Bozeman can afford to purchase or rent. This includes apartments, townhomes, condominiums, emergency shelters, accessory dwelling units, mobile homes, and single-family homes - all dwelling type - serving the entire spectrum of housing needs.
Community Housing Project Pipeline
The Community Housing Project Pipeline depicts all of the forthcoming affordable housing projects under way within the City of Bozeman. Each of these projects are in various stages of development including: the conceptual phase; site plans under review; approved site plans; and projects that are currently under construction. This dashboard helps residents stay informed about affordable housing development in the community and helps the City forecast affordable housing unit production compared to the overall demand for affordable homes in the City of Bozeman.

Affordable Housing
Housing is affordable if the monthly rent or mortgage payment is equal to or less that 30% of gross household income (before taxes).
Area Median Income (AMI)
Area Median Income is a term that generally refers to the median incomes published annually for counties by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). AMI varies by household size. AMI is used to set income and rent limits for housing programs statutorily linked to HUD income limits (e.g. low-income housing tax credit rentals).
Missing Middle
Generally refers to ownership housing needed for residents and employees earning over 80% AMI, yet that cannot afford market-rate housing. In Bozeman, this generally refers to households earning between about 80% AMI up to 150% AMI.
