Background

The Belonging in Bozeman (BIB) plan is a collectively developed roadmap for shared ongoing action to create a city where all who live, work, and visit feel that they can thrive regardless of life circumstance. The planning process embodied the spirit of Belonging in Bozeman by ensuring that all voices had a seat at the table and were heard.

Creation of the plan involved community members, various organizations, the Belonging in Bozeman Internal Core Team Committee of representatives across City of Bozeman departments, the Steering Committee, Bozeman City Commission, the Economic Vitality Board, community liaisons, and the City of Bozeman Executive Leadership Team among others. Input was gathered through citywide surveys, meetings, community chats, and public comment periods. Collectively, these groups were able to learn with and from each other to create the cities’ first Belonging in Bozeman plan.

The final BIB plan was unanimously adopted by the Bozeman City Commission on December 19, 2023. It outlines topline aspirational goals, 98 recommendations, needed resources and partnerships over the next 3-5 years with an eye towards taking a comprehensive look at the plan to see what needs to be re-written to fit changing community needs to ensure continued progress for years to come.
