Green Stormwater Infastructure (GSI)
GSI is a nature-based approach that manages rainwater where it falls. By utilizing soil, plants, and permeable materials, GSI filters out pollutants and allows water to slowly soak into the ground. In turn, GSI helps to reduce flooding and to improve water quality. Examples of GSI include rain gardens, bioswales, and permeable concrete pavers. To learn more about GSI visit the EPA’s Green Stormwater Infrastructure webpage.
