Routine Records

Most routine records such as ordinances, resolutions, minutes, agendas, and contracts (among many other document types) are available via the City's online document center.

Non-Routine Records

Non-routine records (material prepared in the regular course of City business but are not prepared for mass distribution) may be made available via the records request form below.

Police Records

Bozeman Police Department records relating to Public or Confidential Criminal Justice Information, including call for service and any criminal investigation, are maintained by Gallatin County 911 Communications. 

To request copies of police reports, please visit the Gallatin County Support Services / Records website to access the request form.

The Support Services division which manages law enforcement records is on the second floor of the Judge Guenther Memorial Center at 1709 West College St. Bozeman, MT 59715. Staff can be reached at 406-582-2005.

Community Development Records

ZONING VERIFICATION vs. RECORDS REQUEST 

A Zoning Verification (PDF) application requests official documentation of a property’s current zoning classification issued by the City of Bozeman. A verification letter will verify the status of the subject property at the time of issuance and will include the confirmation of address, zoning district, applicable planned development, any code violations on record, and existence of any approved or recorded regulatory plan and/or conditions with corresponding ordinances.

Please note that zoning verifications do not include a site inspection, only examination of records.

County Records

Gallatin County manages birth and death records, as well as conveyances (transfers of interest in real property). Please contact the Gallatin County Clerk and Recorder's Office for these records.
